Thank you for the warm welcome. My father Otto Rudy Schiefelbein, was born in Stetin, Germany, now Poland I think, in 1899, to Gus or August maybe, and Tillie Schiefelbein. He had a brother Carl, and I'm not sure about other brothers or sisters. I have tried to do some family tree research but haven't had any luck online. Maybe I'll get lucky and I'll have a long lost cousin on this forum!

For this to find out, the German Catholic Church has a very large register about german families down to the middleage. This register is in the city Regensburg, in the south of Germany. Maybe you can find out something there.

No luck there. I've tried www.rootsweb.org too, and I can find where he came to the USA in 1922 and even a picture of the ship he was on, but his life before that is a mystery, and of course he passed away in 1982.
